Funded by Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), this project’s vision is that “all parents will be their child’s best first teacher”.  Some of the project’s goals include: enhancing school readiness for children 0-5 years of age; increasing parents competence and confidence in giving the child the best possible start in life; promoting a strong parent-child relationship; lastly, by providing a means for early detection of potential learning problems, to name a few.  The project is currently based in Majuro, but WUTMI is preparing to expand the program to Ebeye.

TIPS (Training for Improving Parenting Skills), an extension of PAT, is funded by New Zealand Government.  This project aims to better guide young parents on proper parenting skills for young children (prenatal—kindergarten).  TIPS is in its 3rd year of conducting parental education programming for 70 young parents of children 0-5 years of age in Majuro.  This project also works to enhance the capacity for local governments regarding parenting knowledge and training skills.
